I AM not ok with the situation…

Every 27 seconds a woman is raped in South Africa.

Every 24 hours a woman is murdered by her partner in South Africa.

We are faced with these horrifying and untenable statistics every day. And, yet, there just seems to be no end to the violence perpetrated against women and children in this country.

This intolerable pandemic,is torturing our people and we feel urgently compelled to do something …. alongside all the protests and support groups that are helping families – in dire need.

We need to create a movement that definitively changes the entire narrative.
That is what The ” I AM” Collective aims to do.

The I AM becoming a safe space

I AM collective is a collective self healing circle for those who have impacted, directly or indirectly by GBV.

Here, we share our lived experiences, so that it becomes training tools for the community. So that we shift our understanding on what violent language & behaviour is.

How Does it Work?

You sign up via your radio station.

Listen out for the various conversations that will be had on air as you hear the various ways in which GBV shows up. The subtle way it shows up in addition to the  brutality we hear about. All reframed by a clinical psychologist to help us learn more about this complicated subject.

As you listen, you can help us widen our learning so that we’re walking away with a slightly different perspective.

Sharing your story helps you take the 1st step to heal & provide the collective with an opportunity to learn.

Knowledge is liberating

As a member we encourage you to share. Your lived experience is how we start to build knowledge of real scenarios, so that we build learning interventions to help us see things differently, to see the red flags coming, and to have the confidence to know what to do next.
